Like a Drunk in a Tumble Dryer

Hello.

This blog’s reason for being has changed. We’ve been rather busy since my darling husband Steven was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

I thought long and hard about whether to write about the ups and downs of life when your partner has a life-threatening illness – and believe me there are many ups.

We discussed it and he said to go ahead, to get the message out about men being vigilant about maintaining their health and that includes getting a PSA blood test regularly to catch prostate cancer early.

He said, ‘Do it, even if it means saving the world one willie at a time’.

Despite having a  vigilant GP, Steven was stage 3b on first diagnosis, with a Gleason 9 rating. The cancer is inoperable and incurable, so we do what we can to live normally and happily.

It’s been about a year and a half since initial diagnosis. We’ve been through the ups and downs, the tears, and now its the new normal. But it isn’t all miserable. we still laugh and try even more to enjoy our lives. We’ve learned that lesson.
